Bad weather has forced organisers to postpone a free Festival of Sheppey open-air creative art event.

Harry Farmer from the Museum of London Archaeology has abandoned plans for his Coasts in Minds beach walk at Warden Bay this afternoon (Thursday).

Instead, the event will be moved to next Monday (June 15) evening.

He said last night: “We have been closely monitoring the weather forecasts and have taken the decision to postpone tomorrow’s event due to high winds and heavy rain throughout the day.”

People already registered have been notified.

But Mr Farmer added: “We want as many people on the Island to have the opportunity to join this. The later low tide timings on Monday mean it will be more accessible for people to attend after work.”

The session will also feature Sheppey artist Laurie Harpum.
